Psychotherapy or "talk therapy" is much more than a supportive conversation that you have with your friends/family.

It is structured and scientifically proven to manage wide variety of mental health issues. It helps to resolve deep rooted issues, problematic behaviors. It helps a person understand himself/herself and their emotions.

Therapy sessions :

Therapy sessions can be for individual, couple, family and group. They can be for short term (months) and long term (years) depending upon the issue. Sessions are usually held once a week and a single session lasts for 45-50 minutes.

Every therapist is different in their approach, and no approach is better or worse. It's the rapport and trust that you and your therapist build during sessions which is important for your improvement.

2.Psycho-dynamic therapy : It basically focuses on holistic approach. It is based on the idea that childhood experiences influence behaviors and thinking patterns.

3.Cognitive behavior therapy : It helps you in managing your issues by changing the way you think, feel and act.

4. Dialectical Behavior Therapy : It focuses on 4 modules : Mindfulness, Distress tolerance, Interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation.
